Collin Ross, from the state champion St. Paul's soccer team scored five goals with an assists in the month as his team capped off their season with a 27-1-3 record. On the collegiate level, Delgado baseball standout JP LaGreco opened his career with a .529 average in his first six games and a .300 average with five doubles and three home runs overall in February, while Dillard men's basketball star Demetric Austin averaged over 20 points per game while leading the Bleu Devils to their first NAIA national ranking in over 10 years.

The Greater New Orleans Sports Selection Committee has been selecting an Amateur Athlete of the Month each month since 1958. The athlete must be a native of the greater New Orleans area or must compete for a team in the metropolitan region in order to be eligible. Each of the monthly award winners will be honored in the summer at the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Ceremony, hosted by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
