29th Annual Sugar Bowl Classic ~ January 1, 1963 #3 Ole Miss 17 (Final: 10-0-0) #6 Arkansas 13 (Final: 9-2-0) Glynn Griffing, a double-record setter, became the fourth Ole Miss quarterback to win the "Most Outstanding" award as he led the Rebels to a 17-13 victory over Arkansas to punctuate Ole Miss' first perfect season (10-0) in history. Griffing threw for 242 yards, topping Davey O'Brien's 1939 mark of 225, and had 256 yards of total offense, surpassing Eddie Prokop's 1944 total by one. He connected on one TD pass and ran for another score. Though the game was tied 3-3 and 10-10 (Arkansas' touchdown came on Billy Gray's 68-yard, record-setting toss), the Rebels took over in the fourth quarter with an 80-yard scoring march and then had drives stopped at the 3, 8 and 24.
