31st Annual Sugar Bowl Classic ~ January 1, 1965 #7 LSU 13 (Final: 8-2-1) Syracuse 10 (Final: 7-4-0) Doug Moreau caught a 57-yard TD pass and kicked a 28-yard field goal in the waning moments to give LSU a come-from-behind 13-10 win over Syracuse. Boasting a great running combination of Floyd Little, Jim Nance and Walt Mahle, Syracuse dominated the first half, though its ground forces didn't score a touchdown. Roger Smith got a field goal and Brad Clarke scooped up a blocked punt by Dennis Reilly and went 28 yards for a score, pushing the Orangemen to a 10-2 lead. LSU tied the game on the Billy Ezell to Moreau pitch in the third quarter, adding two points on an Ezell to Joe Labruzzo pass. Then, with 3:55 left, after Pat Screen had run for 23 yards and thrown for 36 more, Moreau hit the game-winning three-pointer.
