NEW ORLEANS (Oct. 5) - Here's a brief look at the highlights of the fifth week of the college football season, the least tumultuous week of the year to date with just four top-25 teams losing and two of those to other ranked programs.

BCS BustersNo. 5 Boise State 34, UC Davis 16: A bit closer than expected, but still an easy victory against a FCS foe.
No. 11 TCU 39, SMU 14: TCU running attack pulls away in challenging rivalry game.
UTEP 58, No. 12 Houston 41: Cougar's BCS hopes crushed by devastating UTEP running game.
No. 20 BYU 35, Utah State 17: Cougars still have big games remaining that could lift them in rankings.

CruisingNo. 3 Alabama 38, Kentucky 20: Crimson Tide continues to pick up votes towards Top 2 ranking.
No. 9 Ohio State 33, Indiana 14: Tressel's crew handles Indiana in Big Ten battle.
No. 10 Cincinnati 37, Miami (Ohio) 13: Bearcats (pictured above) remain undefeated, leapfrog in-state rival Ohio State in AP poll.
No. 16 Oregon 52, Washington State 6: Memory of opening game loss to Boise has far less sting after four straight wins.

Back on TrackNo. 7 USC 30, No. 24 Cal 3: Trojans recovering from Washington loss, shut down ranked Bears.
No. 17 Miami 21, No. 8 Oklahoma 20: Hurricanes climb back towards top-10; deal serious blow to Sooner's title hopes.
No. 15 Penn State 35, Illinois 17: Nittany Lions shut down struggling Illinois.
No. 21 Ole Miss 23, Vanderbilt 7: Commodores just what Rebels needed to get on track - Alabama's up next at home.

EscapesNo. 4 LSU 20, No. 18 Georgia 13: LSU's last-minute rushing TD lifts it to key SEC road victory.
No. 6 Virginia Tech 34, Duke 26: Hokies have more trouble with Devils than expected, but remain atop ACC.
No. 13 Iowa 24, Arkansas State 21: Hawkeyes remain perfect by handling on-side kick in final minute.
Notre Dame 37, Washington 30 (OT): Irish continue string of down-to-the-wire showdowns.

South Florida 34, Syracuse 20: Bulls keep rolling with No. 2 quarterback, enter AP poll at No. 23.
Wisconsin 31, Minnesota 28: Badgers hold off Gophers, enter Coaches Poll with perfect 5-0 mark.
Missouri: Moves into AP Poll despite a bye - hosts No. 21 Nebraska this weekend in most challenging game to date.

Other Undefeateds with Byes (13 total undefeated remain in FBS)
No. 1 Florida: Travel to LSU this weekend, Tebow's status uncertain.
No. 2 Texas: Host Colorado this weekend with chance for No. 1 if Gators go down.
No. 18 Kansas: Jayhawks will be favored again this weekend against struggling Iowa State.

First LossesMichigan State 26, No. 22 Michigan 20 (OT): Spartans pull together to deal first loss to Wolverines.
Arkansas 47, Texas A&M 19: Arkansas offense runs and passes all over Aggies in Cowboys Stadium.
Stanford 24, UCLA 16: Bruins were last undefeated team in Pac-10; Stanford is 3-0 in league.

InjuriesFlorida QB and Manning Award winner Tim Tebow's status remains unclear for Saturday's LSU game after suffering a concussion on Sept. 26.
Texas Tech QB Taylor Potts suffered a concussion in Saturday's game, questionable on return date.
Oklahoma WR Ryan Broyles injured his shoulder against Miami and could miss a month.
Southern Miss QB and Manning Award Watch Lister Austin Davis
tore a ligament in his foot and will miss the rest of the year.

19-of-28, 202 yards, 3 TDs, 2 INTs: Miami defeats No. 8 Oklahoma, finishing brutal season-opening stretch at 3-1.

Colin Kaepernick, Nevada
15-of-18, 208 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT:  Adds 173 rushing yards in 63-28 whipping of UNLV.

Case Keenum, Houston
51-of-76, 536 yards, 5 TDs, 0 INT: No fault for UTEP loss on Keenum who again puts up ridiculous numbers.

Manning Award Players to WatchThe Manning Award Watch List will be revised in mid-October. Here's a look at fifth-week numbers from quarterbacks making a bid to join the Watch List:
Ryan Mallett, Arkansas
17-of-27, 271 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT: 6-7 gunslinger struts SEC stuff in blowout of previously undefeated Texas A&M.

Josh Nesbitt, Georgia Tech
11-of-14, 266 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT: Speedster adds 56 rushing yards as Tech tops Mississippi State.

Aaron Opelt, Toledo
30-of-38, 422 yards, 5 TDs, 1 INT: Rockets shock Ball State with last minute 51-yard TD pass for victory.

Steven Sheffield, Texas Tech
16-of-23, 238 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT: Backup replaces injured Taylor Potts and puts up big numbers in little over a half of action.

Tyrod Taylor, Virginia Tech
17-of-22, 327 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT: Career-high passing yards for Taylor in 34-26 win over Duke.

This Week's Key Games (with new AP rankings)No. 1 Florida at No. 4 LSU - Will Tebow play? is the big question, but either way an undefeated will go down.
No. 3 Alabama at No. 20 Ole Miss - Another key SEC showdown, Rebels look to deal first loss to Bama at home.
Wisconsin at No. 9 Ohio State - Badgers remain undefeated, could surprise Buckeyes in Columbus.
Michigan at No. 12 Iowa - Wolverines suffered first loss on Saturday, Iowa looks to remain undefeated.
