California Power Westchester Ready for Sugar Bowl Tourney

This is the fifth in a 16-day installment of previews featuring the 16 teams participating in the Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Basketball Classic January 6 through January 8 at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner as well as at Country Day and Archbishop Rummel High Schools. In its 63rd year of existence, Los Angeles power Westchester High has one prominent alumnus residing in New Orleans currently in Trevor Ariza, the starting small forward for the New Orleans Hornets.
Other notable graduates include current Toronto forward Amir Johnson, Hassan Adams, who played for the Nets, Raptors, guard Gabe Pruitt, who played for Boston and Clippers and former Hornet Bobby Brown.
Adjacent to Los Angeles International Airport, Westchester is flying high again this season.
The Comets are currently ranked sixth in the Los Angeles/Southern California area, starting the season with an 8-2 record, losing to Taft (Woodland Hills) California 71-60 and to Christian Life Center of Humble, Texas 55-44.
