St. Aug and Brother Martin to Meet in Finals of CYO Basketball Tournament Saturday, December 4, 2010
St. Aug cruised to a 74-35 victory over Karr in its semifinal contest. The Purple Knights beat West Jefferson and Slidell in the first two rounds by an average margin of 24 points. In the other semifinal, Brother Martin emerged on top in a tight game, 39-37, over previously undefeated Rummel. The Crusaders first two wins were over Bonnabel and Ellender. Friday, Dec. 3 Allstate Sugar Bowl CYO Basketball Semifinal Results: Saturday, Dec. 4 Allstate Sugar Bowl Schedule: Last year's tournament featured 16 boys' high school teams playing in 25 games. Jesuit High School held off St. Augustine, 58-50, to win the championship with the Blue Jays' Colby Kiefer earning the event's Most Valuable Player honor. One team dominated and the other squeaked by, but both St. Augustine High School and Brother Martin High School will meet Saturday night at Jesuit High School in the Championship game of the Allstate Sugar Bowl CYO Basketball Tournament. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
