  • All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference offensive guard and linebacker at Xavier University.
  • Coached 11 years at St. Augustine High School (1969-79), accumulating a career record of 113-17-1 and guiding the Purple Knights to 11 consecutive winning seasons, seven district titles and three state championships (1975, 1978, 1979) in the state's highest classification.
  • Named New Orleans States-Item Coach of the Year in 1970 and honored with the Louisiana Sportswriters Association Coach of the Year award in 1972.
  • The appeal of St. Aug football, which routinely drew 15,000-20,000 fans for games at Tad Gormley Stadium, reached its peak with the 1978 state title game in the Superdome when 44,000 fans saw the Knights defeat Jesuit, 13-7.
  • Later became head coach at Southern University (1981-86), where he scored a 50-20 victory over Grambling in the 1982 Bayou Classic.
  • Named New Orleans States-Item Coach of the Year in 1970 and honored with the Louisiana Sportswriters Association Coach of the Year award in 1972.
  • Also served as executive director of the New Orleans Police Athletic League (after stints as an assistant coach at LSU and Tulane).
  • Also a member of the New Orleans High School Sports Hall of Fame located at Ye Olde College Inn.
