Clark H.S./Oklahoma State/AAU/1968 Olympics
James King prepped at Clark High School and led his team to two city championships and one trip to the state finals. He guided his teams to a 56-11 record and averaged in double figures in points each year, including 19 points per game as a senior. King was an all-conference performer at Oklahoma State University while playing for legendary coach Henry Iba. He was drafted by the Detroit Pistons, but opted for a career in the AAU Leagues playing for the Akron Goodyears. This led him to a 1968 Olympic Basketball team selection where King and his teammates brought home the gold medal from Mexico City.
