Alexander HeinemannBaseball Executive, 1914-30 New Orleans Pelicans Inducted: 1991 Alexander Julius Heinemann, nicknamed Heine, began his time with the New Orleans Pelicans baseball club in the late 1800s hawking concessions in the stadium, moved into administration by 1904 and became the team's president in 1914. Under his direction, the Pelicans moved their stadium to the corner of Carrolton and Tulane Avenues. As the team began to have success, Heinemann hired Larry Gilbert to manage the team and further success came in the form of five pennant. A regular in the stock market, Heinemann was badly hit in the crash of 1929 and took his own life in 1930 - possibly due to guilt from advising others to jump into stocks.
